Whew!

Possum
Well the Food Fairy smiled on me again. (Or my dad gave me $8 whatever.) So it looks like I won't starve but I'll be enjoying salads for lunch thanks to Fresh and Easy's 98 cent salad packs and eggs for dinner thanks to Fry's and their 97 cent eggs.

It's good news that the holidays are coming up and I get to bake my favorite pies. There's also Food Network's 12 Days of Cookies to look forward to!

Creativity...

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 1:45 PM

I love this part of the week. You know the part where I have less than $2 in my account and can't buy any more food so I have to find creative ways to use what's in the pantry. That kids was sarcasm. Hell no I don't love this. I would LOVE to be able to go to the store and buy food to make all these wonderful dishes swimming in my head.

Anyway, here's what I came up with:

Penne in Brown Butter

Easy.

Cook up some penne.

Put broccoli in at last two minutes.

Brown some butter. (If you don't know how to do this google it. It's easy). I also put in some garlic powder.

Add balsamic vinegar.

Toss with penne.

It's delicious! (Plus, it sounds fancy pants.)

Panda Express...

Weirded Out!
First of all your food is sub-par.  And ever since you got rid of the Tofu in Garlic Sauce (which was delicious btw but discontinued while I was in high school) there's nothing for vegetarians there.  If I want soggy disgusting steamed vegetables I'll dig through the trash and no.

As if I need another reason not to go anywhere near your store there's the panda commercials.  Honestly, I love pandas.  They are my favorite animal on the planet.  Your commercials have made my babies obnoxious meat eaters.  It's not cute and it's not funny.  So way to go Panda Express.  You've definitely made the annoying food commercials category.

Comfort foods...

Re-L Tear
I needed some apparently.

So I made baked spaghetti.  Really easy and there are a million recipes out there.  I kinda made my own.

Now I am enjoying a tall mug of homemade hot chocolate made with cocoa powder, milk, sugar and chili powder.  Yes, I put chili powder in my hot chocolate thanks to the movie Chocolat for that.

Back to be curled up in bed with Catching Fire.

No I did not burn the dessert I was making!

Weirded Out!
But my house smells like I did.  So I looked for a recipe which would use the two mini boxes of almost stale raisins in my pantry.  While baking it overflowed (despite using the proper pan and less of the topping than the recipe called for) and burned into the bottom of my oven.  Ugh.

So my friends if you're gonna make this Raisin Pudding Cake use a 13 inch pan.  Sheesh!

P.S. - I don't know how the picture will turn out (I took like four and they all looked blurry) so all you get is a recipe for now.

Hats off to Progresso!

Did anyone watch SNL on Saturday?

I freakin' love Penelope.  She's got to be my favorite reoccuring character.  Anyway she mentioned that her car runs on bleu cheese dressing and well what did I do?  Yes, I went out and bought some bleu cheese dressing. Damn you SNL!

I HAVE A FOOD BLOG?!?!?!

I suck.  I know.  I have been so lazy at updating.  *sigh*

Hopefully I can rectify that.

Here's two things I made this week.

First is a Barely and Corn Salad from Christina's Great American Diet Makeover.  I'm telling you best PDF file I've ever downloaded.

I'm pretty sure yellow corn would have made this more exciting looking.  Ah well.

And Not Your Momma's Meat Loaf.  Best loaf I've ever had!

Great Food Commercials...

Spoot!
So I have a segment "Annoying Food Commercials." Why not a "Great Food Commercials" one?

This one's for Subway and it makes me laugh every time I see it.

Here's some sushi from somewhere.  Can't remember the name of the place but it sure does look cool!

Next, Paul and Marshall model the mac and cheese from Switch:

I had bruschetta which was good but not as good as Julie's.
